VALUE OF SHOCK ABSORBERS
' It sometimes happens that cars—es- J pecially small light cars—are very lively on their springs when first delivered. This makes them seem very skittish on rough roads at anything over a very moderate speed, and they become somewhat hard to hold upon a straight course. This naturally applies with greater force when the car is only lightly goaded and not carrying its full com-, plement of passengers. The fitting of', suitable shock absorbers will do much to remedy this. A good shock 'absorb-• cr will~bring about a complete cure for skittishness, and make a car, that was previously inclined to dance from side to side, hold, the road perfectly. They alao improve the comfort of the car. very considerably over pot-holey roads,: and roads.whichvhave had' waves made', on their surfaces.Jbyheavy, jfast traffic.; These will cause a car to bounce about' in a most unpleasant manner if it is not very well sprung.: The rear passen-j gers may be lifted off their seats andi have their hats disarranged by coming > into contact with the hood; but forty- j nately this docs not very much matter to ladies' hats of the.present day.
