Stanley Lay, the nineteen-year-old Hawera athlete, while competing at the electric light sports meeting last evening, broke his own Australian and New Zealand record for throwing the. javelin by registering a throw of 181 feet 7 inches. The previous record, about three feet less than this, was established at. Hawera six weeks ago. Lay is a Taranaki representative cricketer, and last season played for the provincial B Rugby team.
