LONDON MUNICIPAL SOCIETY

WOEK OF WOMEN'S SECTION,

The "Women's Section of the London Municipal Society, of which Mrs. Stanley Baldwin is president and Lady Brittain chairman, has done a great deal of excellent work in promoting and assisting the candidature of women for the London County Council, Borough Councils, and other local government bodies, and in arousing the interest of women electors in municipal matters which closely affect them, says the London "Daily Telegraph." At the recent London County Council elections several young and active women were returned, largely through the efforts of the London Municipal Society, and it is purposed putting forward similar candidates at the coming Borough Council elections. Arrangements are being made to hold a series of afternoon meetings in various constituencies, when discussions on municipal matters will be interspersed with music. A number of ladies have consented to pr,ovide programmes for these gatherings. In addition, the committee of the women's section are promoting a series of bridge tournaments in different. parts of London, in order to raise funds to help women candidates standing at the November elections.
