"We first have got to prove the success of the. desert route from Cairo to Karachi, via Bagdad," said Sir Eric Geddes at the annual meeting of the Imperial Airways. "If we prove reliability and punctuality thereon, it will open possibilities of service with Bombay and Calcutta, and it should be even possible years hence to fly regularly to Rangoon and ' Singapore, perhaps beyond."
