ATHENS, 29th Decemb(
Owing to the indignant outcry of .women over the police order regarling the shol. tness of skirts, the authorities have permitted dresses to be 14 inches from the ground.
On 7th December last tho "Morning Post's" At!.3iis correspondent said that General Pangalos's latest dress decree had astounded feminine Greece. Under tho penalty of a heav/ fine for the first offence, or from a day to a month's imprisonment for the second offen?3, the decree, forba<lo the wearing of short skirts on tho ground that they ire repugnant to tho Hellenic sentiment of beauty. Skirts had to be lowered to 12 in from tho ground. The decree also forced daiuing schools to close at 10 o'clock ;n the evening. Pnpils, if minors, must t>j accompanied by parents or guardians.. No girls under eighteen ar.e al lowed to attend dancing saloe ;.
