"The first, day of "the New Zealand professional .championship meeting' was held on the Caledonian Ground to-day in beautiful weather. There was a large attendance, and some'fine runnio;; was witnessed. .';"

D. M'Lennan (Canterbury) added to his reputation as one of the finest runners; seen in New Zealand for a loni; time. past.
