A RECORD BROKEN
BY THE BRITISH POST OFFICE
FIRST SUNDAY DELIVERY SINCE
THE WAR,
(UNITED PRISH ASSOCIATION—<MPIHGST.) (AUS'-RAMAN-NEW ZEALAND CABII ASSOCIATION,) LONDON, 27th December.
The Post Office broke a long record to-day, when the delivery of letters, including the Australian mail, was general throughout England, 'Wales, and Northern Ireland. Outside of London this was the first Sunday delivery since the war, and for London itself it was the first in Jiving mcniory. A postal official declare^ there has not been a Sunday postal delivery in London since the days whim boys, mounted on ponies, rode round' the city, ringing bells announcing the arrival of mails. The innovation was duo to the authorities giving sorters and postmen a holiday on Boxing Day, after the gruelling work of dealing with Christmas cards and parcels. For this boon, enabling them to participate in their family festivities, tho men consented to provide a morning delivery to-day.
