(Received 21st November, 2 p.m.) LONDON, 20th November. The death is announced o£ William Edward Norris, the novelist.

The late Mr. Norris wrote a lengthy list of novels, many of whish may bo ranked as "best sellers." His bestknown works were "Mademoiselle de Mersac," "Clarissa Furiosa," "An Octave," "Barham of Beltana," "Sabine and. Sabina," and "The Conscience of Gavin Glano," the latter being published last year.
