NO COMPLETE SURPRISE
RUMOUR THAT PAIR WILL SAIL ON' CRUISER. SYDNEY, 20th November. The sudden arrests did not come altogether as a surprise. Rumours have been current, since the election returns shaped themselves towards a Nationalist victory, of a- probable early move, and that the militant unions were preparing for what has now happened. What the intentions of the militant unions are now that the blow has fallen remains to be seen, but threats of a general strike have been freely made. . Walsh and Johnson were quietly arrested at their homes early in the morning, and were removed to Garden Island. This is taken to suggest that the* Navy may convey them from Australia?
It is freely Tumoured that the warship Melbourne will be the means of conveying Walsh and Johnson at least part of their journey, as she is due to leave shortly for- Malta for. duty with the Mediterranean Fleet.
