SISTINE CHOIR SOLOISTS,
During the recent Australian season of the. celebrated Sistine Choir. Soloists much attention was attracted by the singing of the young baritone, Amodeo Burani, who, although only 23 years of. age, had come from Italy with a considerable reputation. Reviewing the first 'concert in the Sydney Town Hall, the critic of the .Sydney "Mail" wrote :— "Amodeo Burani is the great star of the company.. This young baritone has . a voice of magnificent quality and tremendous volume, -■ very resonant and soft in texture. He easily puts Granforte in the shade, and it would not be at all surprising to hear within a few years' time that .he has.become one of the world's leading baritones,'for even, now he does not suffer by comparison with such singers as. Ruff and De Luca." Other newcomers are Auchner, a light baritone with a cultured style; Ferri, a bassbaritone; and Morgia, a lyric tenor. Old favourites in New Zealand are Paganelli, Belli, Sarti, and the inimitable Mae^ stro Casolari. . The* Wellington season will be limited;to four concerts, which will be given in the Town Hall on Thursday and the following Saturday, Monday, 'and Tuesday. The box plans will be opened at The Bristol on Moriday morning. .' ': ;
