TRENTHAM NOTES
(By £'Vedette,")
Compared, with previous years' the 'tracks at Trentham are surprisingly good, and unless 1 a "good deal of rain falls before the meeting trainers will lave very fair ground for ; gallops. This is due to improved drainage. The fences on the course proper-will .be availablo for trainers on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday of next week..' The ground between the fences has been well rolled, and provides extra good going. The trial grass will be open on Tuesday for fast work.
There was not a great, deal of fast work this morning, and outside of Black Art, Frenchman, and: Apache, the visiting horses-hay to arrive.. To judge by' the booking for accommodation, horses ;from other, parts will total up to a large number. - ' . . ; Practically: all the work was done oh v l? 1 wiS ter £ l'T -th-is mornin S- Rain •field oil untu training operations were over.l 1. : •'i

Black Art hit out with plenty of'freedom in a working gallop. He has lightened up a good:deal since" racing at Wanganui, due.no doubt to his hurried visit to Australia. -By the "time the Wellington Steeplecliase,.comes, up for decision, ,ho should havo freshened up well and be a very, fit horse. : ■ :'■ ,: \ ,_ Minoius and Nadarino were . compan-i ,ions over a four, furlong course, running the last ..three 'furlongs'.in* 39sec.: Minotus is furnishing -into a fine looking colt,: while there is little airiiss with .the condition ot-Nadarino..
