The following further re-handicaps have been declared by Sir. F. J. M'Manemin for the Auckland Racing Club's Winter Meeting :—

Great Northern Hurdles : Comical, 71b (10.7). Penrose' Hurdle Race: Trespass, 81b (10.8). Members' Handicap : Archeen, slb (8.12). Acceptances for Otaki and Levin aro due on Friday. Nominations for the Waverley Winter Meeting are due on Friday. It is said that KUlocra is being set for the Winter Cup. Mr. A. M'Donald ■won last year with Soliform. There are many who -will not believe Black Art is going to Sydney until the steamer leaves the wharf with him on board.

Comical promises to start favourito for the Great Northern Hurdles,'bui, in such a good betting race, even if the favourite wins the dividend will be of very fair dimensions.

Frisco Mail in his last eight starts has won five times, run second once, and been placed third twice. He has a luxurious weight at 9.8 in the Great Northern Hurdles, while he has 9.3 in the Steeplechase. The-reverse way of galloping of the Northern course may tell against him, but no doubt he has done a fair amount of work right-handed before leaving home. By San Francisco from Lady Victoria (da,m of Royai'Star), by Pilgrim's Progress from Lady Lilian^ he is bred the right way for a. jonrney.

Barometer does not appear badly treated in the Cornwall Handicap at Ellerslic at 8.6.^ In point of fact, Barometer, Arch Arnie, Gala Day, and Ruapapa! the place-fillers in the two principal races at the' last Hamilton Meeting, promise to play a big part in the decision of the ten furlong event at Ellerslio next Wednesday.

Tho imported horse Peach Brandy, formerly trained at Trenthara, figures amongst the acceptors for the Jervois Handicap at the Auckland Winter Meeting.

The Penrose Hack Hurdle Race at Auckland should bo a most instructive race, for there are some promising horses engaged. Backers should be ablo to get a good lino on the form by tho showing of Trespass, who was a clover winner at Wanganui. Society (Absurd —First Class), Goldspear (Greyspear—Sunglow), and Lucinda (Martian—Lady Lucy) are three two-year-old fillies being tried out by R. J. Mason at Riccarton. Lucinda and GoMdspear are engaged in the next A.J.C. Derby. It is reported that Mason leaves with. Haze and Lucinda on tho Ulimaroa for Sydney on Friday, and that Gloaming will go across to join them later.

The West Coast horse Lord Ashlea was schooled last week over the pony hurdles at Riccarton. According to all accounts he shaped well for a novice. Wench, with 7.7, was given a run in the second division of the; Kogarah Stakes at the Moorefield Meeting on tho 16th, but failed to finish in the first seven. She has been jumping well in schooling lessons at Randwick, but in order to win over the jumps in Sydney she will need to run up to her best Dominion form. The weights allotted her for coming events show she is not to get any races presented her, comments "Pilot."

The New Zealand mare Parody is not to leave Sydney for a spell, but will remain at her trainer's stables. She has been on the easy list since the commencement of this month, and may not resume for another six weeks at least. Parody won at her first start in her present ownership, but since then has repeatedly disappointed. That good horse San Toi (Queen's Birthday—Merry Wife) died in England recently at the ripe age of 28. In his racing days he. earned a pot of money for George Edwardes, manager of the Gaiety and Daly's Theatres, who got him as a yearling for less than 200 guineas. Avnoug the "big races he won were tho Jubilee Stakes, tho Ascot Stakes, and tho Lewes Handicap. But his best perfoi-riiajace was when, as a three-year-, old with Bst lib on his back, he" was only beaten by a head in the Manchester November Handicap , by Lexicon, who was three years older and carried 161b less. S;w Toi was as great a success at the stud as he had beou during his Turf career. Ho sired four winners of IJie Cesarewitch—Yentoi, Ifiz Yama, Sanctum, and Yntoi.

Tho late Sir Edward Hnlton -was a, keen racing man, and was one oE the principal patrons of Eichard Wootton Sinco tho war, Stanley Wootton has always had a few horses of his. A consistent supporter of tho classic races, he achieved a." fair amount of success. His filly, Fifinella, won, tho Derby and Oaks of 1916, run at Newmarket. Ho was the owner of that good mars Straitlaco, winner of the Oaks _ last year, while Roseway scored for Kirn in the Ono Thousand Guineas of 1919.

The well-known cross-country jockey A. H. Burt was married on Monday to Miss Fryer, of Taranaki.

According to a Southern /writer, Charlatan is to be treated to a light dose of physic and a short spell out in the paddock.

J. MlCombe expects to have four of his team racing at the Dunedin Jockey Club's Meeting, and, if their form warrants it, he will make arrangements'to leave for Australia on his return from tho Southern fixture.
