WELLINGTON UNION
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE.
The Management Committee of tho Wellington Rugby Union met last evening, those present being: Messrs. J. Prendeville . (chairman), J. N.. Millard, H. H. Sterling, E. Williams, A. J. Griffiths, A. Jackson, A. Lindsay, G. I'W. Jackson, H. Murphy, E. H. Ward, T. A. Fletcher (Referees' Association), and A.^ E. Neilson (secretary). Permission was granted for the following matches to be played on the 3rd June:—Berhampore Baptist Bible Class v. Island Bay and Lyall Bay classes; Brooklyn Presbyterian Bible Class v. St. John's Bible Class; Taita married men v. Taita single men; Petone Third v. Levin Wanderers, at Petone; Petone Intermediate v. Carterton Third, at Carterton.
The Wellington Club's juniors and the Oriental Club's seniors and thirds (three teams in all) were granted permission to travel to Palmer-ston North to play in the seven-a-side tournament there on the 3rd June.
The Berharapore Club was granted permission to hold a place-kicking competition on the moaning of the 3rd June for the Lindsay Cup. The club was also permitted to use a portion of Athletic Park on Monday evenings for training purposes.
A request was made by the Poneke Club for information as to jiny decision arrived at regarding its appeal against tile decision in the Mai'ist-Poneke match last year, on the ground that short time was played.—Referred to the New Zealand Rugby Union. Consideration of a request from the King Country Rugby Union for a visit from a Wellington representative team this season was deferred until the first meeting in July. The Wairarapa Rugby Union wrote confirming the Sth September as tUo date of the Wellington-Wairarapa representative match at Wellington. Two lower grade players were dealt with for alleged offences during a match last Saturday. One for allegedly fighting an opponent was suspended for two playing Saturdays, and the other, who, it was .alleged, had used obscene language, was suspended for five playing Saturdays.
Tha Oriental Club advised that Mr. H. B. Simmons had been appointed a delegate in place of Mr. S. G. Hale. In connection with a protest by the Kaiwarra Club against a decision of the referee of the Kaiwarra-Training College game in not awarding a try to Kaiwarra, it was decided to obtain a report from the referee.
The Berhampore Club gave notice of its intention to move at the > meeting of delegates next month as follows: — "That this meeting approves the principle of replacing injured players throughout the game:" In the event of the motion being carried, tho club would a-lso move :—"That the replacement of injured players be embodied in rules for club contests."
