TO LATE PRIME MINISTER,

The Prime, Minister (the Hon. Sir Francis Bell) stated this afternoon that he understood a movement for a national memorial to the late Mr. Massey was to be .initiated in the deceased' statesman s own district, and that immediately afterwards-contributions would be solicited from the different parts of the Dominion.

Sir Francis added that he did not know what form the memorial would take, as that would be a matter on which the.new Prime Minister would have to submit proposals. "I shall not be the Minister, said Sir Francis.
