HOSPITAL v. WATERSIDE.
The ground at Porirua was in perfect condition for the i Hospital-Waterside game, which was well contested in tho first half, but ended in a-runaway vio tory for" the home team. Waterside were not at full strength, and included one or two juniors. Hospital kicked off against the' gnu, but were at once placed on the defensive through a long shot from Lawrence, which Porteous fielded well. A pass from Muffins to Lambert enabled tbo home team to attack, and the forwards showed good combination. Dwyer and Hamilton, at back, especially the lormer, stopped several good runs by hospital, who were doing most of the attacking. Two corners in succession came to them, Simon making a fine attempt tP convert one. Waterside were making a good fight, although obviously the weaker team. White and Boyd were prominent, but several good runs were spoilt by poor shooting. Hospital attacked strongly, and the forwards, well fed by M'Kce and Simon, made good efforts to break through, but could only obtam several fruitless corners. A splendid long shot by Irvine changed the play, and then Clegg tested Porteous with a hard one. At the other end again several corners came to Hospital, and several shots just wide of their objective put Waterside strictly on the defensive. The persistency of the home team was at last rewarded, as from nice combined work, Hughes netted at close range. Hospital 1-0. Half-time arriyed immediately. On resuming, Hospital attacked keenly, and Cox punched clear/ twice in succession, shots from Lambert and Dick. A run by White and Boyd changed the play, and the former forced a comer! This was cleared, and a fine individual effort by Mullins resulted in his working his way through and scoring a splendid goal. Hospital 2-0. A little later another corner came to Hospital, and this was well placed hy Lambert, but a Waterside player handled the ball, and a penalty kick was ordered. M'Kee took the kick and gave Cox no chance. 3-0. Almost immediately Eastwood and Dick made a fine run, and from the hitter's centre, Mullins made the score 4-0. Waterside made a fast rush, and a great shot from Jenkins hit the crossbar, and Gibb was forced to concede a corner. This was the : last' serious effort on the part of Waterside, and Hospital comp.^telv dominated the play ■.T.»mfe«-I, J-Jushos, and p il:kl goals, ills W.iitsi'SW team vrsre. b$C
