ART UNION PROCEEDS

A correspondent, "Ignorant," writes to "The Post" as follows:—"I notice in sevoral issues of tho local dailies huge advertisements for some 'Gigantio Art Union.' On none of the advertisements do the promotora shite what the proceeds are for, and as a member of the public I would like to hear through the medium of your paper." From tho coupons which are published it is obvious that the "Gigantio Art Union" is being conducted to assist cricket and tennis. It was promoted in Canterbury, and approval of thi9 effort to raise funds was granted by the Minister of Internal Affairs. The proceeds are to go to the Canterbury Crioket Association for clearing cricket grounds of debt and to the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association for tho erection of a stand to perpetuate the memory of the lato Anthony Wilding.
