MEN'S RELAY AND WOMEN'S

FREE-STYLE,

The Brooklyn Central V.M.C.A. relay team set two world's records last March in a special event held in conjunction with a contest between the Brooklyn Central swimmers and the natators of the Passaic V.M.C.A. in the Brooklyn Central's 75-foot pool.

The Central swimmers established a new world's mark of 7min 41 2-ssec, for a four-man team at 600 yards, and then hung up a new record of 9min 39 4-ssec for a five-man team at 750 yards. The new'marks set by the Central team (says the "New York Times"') appreciably bettered. Hie former records, which' were made Ijy (lie Yalo swimmers sit New Haven. The Yale swimmers swam the. Four-man dislancn of 000 yards in 7min 47scc, ii-nrl the five-man 750 yd event in Ornin 50 3-sscc.

The five men who were successful in their attempts tn set the new records were Kayctln Smith, Charles Hosie. outdoor national junior backstroke champion ; Victor Kiffe, August Weinrich, and Harry Lewis, 100 yd sprint champion for the last three years. Smith, who was first l,> swim, covered his 150 yards in lmm 47 2-ssec, which bettered the former international record of lmin 49 4-5 sec. Kiffe swain the second fastest lee in lmin 50 l-ssec.
