DEMPSEY v. GIBBONS.
To-night, at the Grand Opera' House, there will be screened for the first' time m New Zealand the thrilling fi^ht picture, -Dempsey v. : Gibbons, supported by a D. WV Griffith production entitled Greatest Question." Tommy Gibbons has never been seen in- action before by the _public of this-/eountry. In open warfare Gibbons was the master of the champion. He landed the cleaner blows, the more solid shots. Gibbo/is made Dempsey miss his heavy leUds by margins so wide at times that it made Dempsey look foolish. But in the clinches Denipsey had the best of the challenger. Never in heavyweight ring history has anything been seen like Dempsey's work when in close. Again and again Dempsey, aided by his greater strength, turned Gibbons completely around, so that the back of Gibbons was against Dempsey's chest, .and then punched and pounded the back of Gibbons and the. back of Gibbons's head. This is claimed to be the finest fight picture on record, the photography being exceptionally clear, showing every detail of this encounter. The sporting public are afforded an opportunity of witnessing the speed, skill,. and action in this contest which gives a vivid insight into the methods of attack and defence employed by both Dempsey and Gibbons . throughout the fifteen rounds.
