PARAMOUNT THEATRE.
"Cameo Kirkby," a picture of surpassing excellence "from the standpoint of dashing 'action, romantic , appeal, and beauty of presentation, ' opened last night at the Paramount Theatre. In the title role is that superb young actor, John Gilbert, who; in the-picturesque costumes of those distant days, dispays a grace and virility that makes a palpitating hero of Cameo Kirkby. GerIrutle Olmsted and Jean Arthur do good work as the feminine leads. Miss Olmsted, in her love scenes with Gilbert, quite surpasses herself. -The 'scenes on the Mississippi boat are quaint and' charming.-i Can, a modern girl, reared in a sordid environment and compelled to work, for a living, remain'faithful to her ideals in this jazz-age ? is the question which is so vitally answered in the. wonderfully human picture . 'East Side, West Side," which is the supporting big attraction. The Paramount Orchestra of nine solo instrumentalists, under the direction of Mr. R. B. Caulton, contribute considerably to the enjoyment of the programme
