HARDING'S NOMINATION
JENNTNGS'S STORY DENIED AND CORROBORATED,
(Received 2nd April, 6 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Ist April. At the oil inquiry, J. E. Dych, campaign manager for Jake Hamon, denied that Hamon told him he gave 250,000 dollars to Senator Penrose and 50,000 dollars to others to effect Mr. Hardlug's nomination, as stated by Al Jennings. The witness also denied Jennings's allegation ttyit Hamon spent money indiscriminately with the Oklahoma delegation to the Republican Convention. t Another witness corroborated in detail the evidence given by Jennings, and asserted that Hamon himself told him he gave Mr. Daugherty 25,000 dollars a,t the 19^0 Republican Convention, besides confiding that he was spending a huge sum in order to nominate Mr. Harding in the hope of gaining the Secretaryship of the Interior. Hereupon Senator , Walsh intensified the story by saying: "I expect the committee will shortly prove that the conspiracy led to the appointment of a Secretary of the Interior. Witnesses will soon be called who will present proper proof." r *
