MR. LAWSON RESIGNS
WILL FORM NEW GOVERNMENT.
MELBOURNE, 14th March. Mr. Lawson, in a later statement, said that though the relationship among the members of the Ministry was quite harmonious he considered that after the attitude adopted at the Farmers' Union conference it no longer was desirable or feasible to carry on with the present composite Ministry.
He therefore waited on the LieutenantGovernor, and tendered the resignation of the whole Cabinet, and accepted a commission to form a new Cabinet.
A full meeting of the Nationalist Party from whose ranks the Ministry is to be formed is called for Monday. The Farmers' representatives in the late Cabinet have accepted the conference decision in the same spirit as Mr. Lawson. Mr. Allen said that they were not going to remain in the Cabinet under false pretences. There was no need for Mr. Lawson to ask them to resign.
