■No-effort has beenv spared by the committee of the Olympia Swimming Club to make the carnival to be .held at Te Aro Baths next Saturday one of the most attractive arranged locally. Good entrie* have been received for the various events, and competition is sure to be keen in view of the fact that the national championships, to be held this year.at Wanganui, are looming large on the horizon. Most of Wellington's, prominent swimmers will be engaged at the' carnival, and those of the public whoattend ytm be provided with an excellent' afternoon's entertainment. The club has been entrusted with' the management of the44o yards provincial championship, and. the, race for the. Walker and Hall cup. Teams of five will compete in the latter event, and each man will be required to swim 100 yards. In the past", this event has proved a most interesting one, and there is every .indication that the race this year will be well up to the standard. ftv addition to' the events mentioned, there will be the usual handicap events, and a special diving competition has also be"en arranged. The carnival. will commence at 2.30 o'clock sharp, and the various events will be got pff well, up to scheduled time. The club* confidently anticipates a" record attendance of the public.
