NEW ZEALAND COMMISSIONER
MR. A. F. ROBERTS APPOINTED.
It was announced last night that Mr. »iv ?oberts. of Wellington, director of the firm of Messrs. Murray/Roberts, and Co.. had been offered and accepted the appointment of New Zealand Commissioner to the British Empire Exhibition at a salary of £1500 per annum and travelling allowances. A son of Sir John Roberts, of Dunsdin, Air. Roberts was born in Dunedin, and received his early education at Merchiston Castle, Edinburgh, and at Cambridge University. Dunn- his career ?,c, a ,^ tv.dent- he obtained his Rugby Blue in his first year at Cambridge,and was a contemporary of Bedell-Siv-who captained the English Rusbv touring team which visited New Zealand under Bedell-isivrighfs captaincy.
