MIDLAND^ FOUR-POINT WIN

The concluding day of the Old Boys-Midland match at Kelburn Park provided an interesting afternoon's entertainment, and a somewhat exciting finish, Midland finally managing to secure a four-point-■win. With no wickets down for eleven runs, Old Boys resuih- | ed their second innings,, and when eight ! wickets had fallen for a total of ISO runs they-declared. This left Midland' 116 runs to get to secure a four-point victory, and just a few minutes before six o'clock, the time for drawing stumps, that total was passed, five wickets having fallen. Duncan's 34, K. Tucker's 23 not out, and Lusk's 21, I were the main features of Old Boys' innings. . D. C. Collins, the captain of* the Wellington eleven, last year, and; captain of the third test team last' year, was caught by Little afteT he had' made 6 runs, and W. Barclay had the misfortune to be run out when his total had reached 17. There were no outstanding performances in the Midland bowling, O'Connor, with 2 for 28, having«the best average. Baker and H. Hitchings were the opening batsmen for Midland, but the latter lost hjs wicket without scoi-ing. Baker carried on, and by his customary sound methods, hit up 53 runs before he was caught behind the stumpsl D. Little's 32 was a handy contribution to the total, and H. L.
