Though the weather during the past week has been exceedingly changeable and- trying, the influenza situation has continued to improve, and there is really nothing abnormal to report to-day. The Health Department is of opinion that the trouble now is practically over.
The secretary of, the New Zealand Educational Institute has forwarded a letter to the Minister of Education expressing the association's gratification at the pronouncement of Mr. Parr in regard to tlie proposal for the consolidation of small country schools. "The executive feels encouraged to persevere in its efforts to create a favourable public opinion towards tho movement," slates the secretary.
