THE CABINET VACANCY
MR. HUDSON RECOMMENDED,
(BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
NELSON, This Day,
There is a strong feeling locally that j it would be in the interests of the ' Dominion for the Government to appoint Mr. R. P. Hudson (Motueka) to the Cabinet vacancy. His qualifications are well recognised in this district, where ho is known as a man of very sound common-sense, level-headed, and practical. So far as the representation rf j the two islands is concerned, the "Nel- , son Mail" states. to-day that while it j is not desirous of stressing that factor i above personal merit, here is an instance where Mr. Massey can give the South Island the representation it deserves, : and at the same time secure the services of a colleague well qualified for Cabinet rank.
