The finals for the Wellington Boys' Institute annual boxing championships were held in tho Institute, Tasman street, on Thursday evening, and were undoubtedly the most successful yet conducted. AH grades were filled, and great keenness was exhibited by the contestants, who in many cases showed' promise of becoming able exponents of the sport in all its phases. The gymnasium was filled to overflowing, and a number of ladies were present. The various bouts were fought punctually to time, and no hitch occurred to mar the arrangements. • The results were as follow:—Bantamweights : T. Adams v. V. Patterson, won by Adams; light-weight, H. Hobson v. H Ellis, won by Ellis; paper weight, L. Laud v. A. O'Neil, won by O'Neil; middleweight, C. North v. W. Ward, won by North; featherweight, Robinson v Cleverly, won by Robinson; final paper-weight, J. Glover v. A. O'Neil, a

draw. . Exhibition bouts were given by Bloomfield Bros, Rather and Livingstone, Compton and Cleverly, and the Kapier Bros. These were well worth seeing, and tho performance of A. Cleverly was particularly admired, as showing that he promises to become a successful boxer.
