PRICE OF FRUIT
TO 188 EDITOR.
Sir, —In to-night's issue of the "Evening Poet" there appears a statement on the fruit industry. The article is misleading, stating the price given for apples is between sixpense and eiphtpence per lb, and goes on to say that if the public could purchase the said fruit by the case at threepence or fourpence per lb, the consumption would be ten times greater. As a dealer in fruit, lam now selling apples at 5s and 5s od per 401b case, and deliver same at a distance of two miles from place of business. Invariably I have sold 61b foils, and I do not think there is a fruiterer in Wellington where one coud not purchase 51b of apples for Is, and cannot sell too many at that price—surely cheap enough for,the public—l am, etc..
FRUIT DEALER.
