AUCKLAND, 7th June. The usual series of race meetings held, in Auckland during the season concluded with the final day of the Auckland Winter Meeting, but with special permit granted for a two-day meeting for country clubs at Ellerslie, the 1922-23 season has not closed. The totalizator returns, however, show that, excluding four extra days under the county clubs' pool scheme, at which £159,800 was invested, speculation at the race meetings-amounted t0'£1,360,----176 10s, compared with £1,472,628 last year, while speculation at trotting meetings totalled £490,293, against £586,---818 last season. The total investment at all meetings was £2,110,269. The principal figures, compared with those of last eeason, are as follow :'—
