PARAMOUNT AND ARTCRAFT.

To-day's change of programme at the Paramount and Artciaft Theatres will star Mrs. Rodolph Valentino in "The Woman in Chains." She will be supported by E. K. Lincoln, Martha Mansfield-, W. H. Tooker,-and a strong cast. The story is set amidst the beautiful scenery of Martinique, one of the most romantic spots on earth. The swaggering officers in their smart uniforms, once white, but now a sun-baked cream colour, the sing-song gait of the slow-footed plantation worker as he goes about his work, all add to the poetry of the picture. There are also scenes taken in America and in Paris, the latter city providing scenes of night-life happiness followed by the awakening heartache. The plot is one that is said to grip the attention of the audience, and is filled with, romance and adventure. An ' entirely new and artistic prologue is provided by Miss Joyce Julian and Mr. W. Phipson in an apache dance, whilst Mr. Frank Hewitt will sing suitable items. The supporting picture features William Farnum in "Without Compromise," a stirring story of Oregon, in which the sheriff of a frontier town keeps order by adtainistering summaxy justice without the aid of a. eix-shooter. The minor pictures are of fine variety and deal with subjects of topical interest. The musio at both theatres has been specially selected' to suit the programme.
