ANDRE SKALSKI.

The coming of Andre Skalski, the youngeßt pianist-conductor in the world, has been looked forward to keenly, especially since his connection with the Verbrugghen Orchestra. Skalski is a protege of the world's most famous .conductor, the late Arthur Nikisch, and is a pupil of Max Reger and Robert Teichmuller. Although only 27 now, Skalski has earned an enviable European reputation. He has lately been conducting the orchestra during Mame Melba's tour of Sydney and Melbourne. In . his programmes, Mr. Skalski endeavours to give his audiences the old and the modern schools equally mixed. Abcut Skalski . there is the simplicity of Jascha' Heifefcz, the force of Spivakovsky, and the brilliant polish of Levitski, but the romantic atmosphere of Paderewski is above all H He is making an extensive tour, which concludes in New Zaland, after which ha goes to America and later to Europe.

. The management of the Ambassador regret to announce that owing to an unavoidable delay in the completion of.tha special decorations for Black Cat Night it has been found necessary to postpone that feature until a later date. In the meantime the' usual sessions will be effective. The afternoon tea service at 1 the Ambassador is now exceedingly' popular, and many couples, were taking advantage of the splendid music and perfect floor yesterday afternoon.
