PARAMOUNT AND ARTCRAFT.

A new star in Reginald Denny plays the leading character in "The' Kentucky Derby," now screening at the Paramount and Artcraft Theatres. The locale of this racing story is placed in Kentucky, New York, and on an island off the coast of China. The story has an interesting plot, which hinges round the lives of a Kentucky colonel and his son and adopted daughter. The final climax is reached with the running of the Kentucky Derby. The second feature is "Arabia," in which the popular star Tom Mix plays the leading rote. The supports are good. The change of programme next Friday at the Paramount and Artcraft Theatres contains a picture dealing with the question of faith in an all-seeing power under the strange title of "My Friend the Devil." The film is adapted from Georges Ohnet's novel "Doctor Rameau," the scenario being by Paul H. Sloane. The story deals with a girl who marries a doctor, a cold and cynical man, who, deep in his heart, loved his wife, but was not demonstrative. She dies eventually, leaving him with a little daughter, who just prior to her marriage receives- a shock from which she is apparently unable to recover. All the doctor's science faile him, and at last he calls in desperation on God to aid him. The girl recovers and her father changes his opinions. The supports are good, and special music is arranged for both theatres.
