Manaw^tu and Wairarapa.-r-Appleft— Picking operations in full swing. Crop , up to expectation; very heavy. All van- . eties matured above three weeks e&rljer than usual. "lemons —Few grown. Pears —Practically all picked; very heavy crop. Strawberries--Over; v«ry heavy crop j harvested, prices good, demand keen. Tomatoes—On market; fairly good crop where kept free from disease. Walnuts — Few grown. Taken as a whole the fruit | crop for this, district has proved to be a very heavy one, if not a- record.—J. W. Majority of fancy jrrads being exported- Quantities being stored under trees 'or in shed for advance in price on local markets. Peaches—Practically over,- few late varieties, but very inferior quality.' Pears—Majority of pears beintr picked and packed for cool store; Prices not' payable on local market at present.
