SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY.

The bi-weekly concerts of the Sailors' Friend Society were resumed on Tuesday evening, when Miss Gwen Esau presented an interesting programme. The performers were Mrs. Hempton, the Missefl G. Esau and Wolf, and .Messrs. Hawkins, E. ftierre, :H, Austard, Osw-in, Hollis, Ellison; Salmon, Hampton. Miss Wolf was at the piano. Mr. Moore spoke on "Three Facts," in relation to temperance. Miss Mary Kreeft presented buttonholes of flowers to each guest. A complete afternoon tea outfit was presented for use in the tearooms, being the result of a kitchen tea held by Mrs. J. Pnt.er.ion. The misirioncr, on behalf of the sailor*, thanked Mm. PnUrsen and Mrs, Edwards. ' j

QUEEN'S THEATRE. "The Breaking Point," which is now being shown at the Queen's Theatre, shows Bessie Barriscale at the height of emotional acting. "In For Thirty Days," the supporting production, is a play of novel and amusing situations, which gives the star. May Allison, scope for her vivacious personality. The remainins items on. the programme include the latest Topical Budget, Selznick News, comedy, and scenic. The box plan is at the theatre. "THE PRISONER OF ZENDA." Some idea of the great proportions of Rex Ingram's production for Metro, "The Prisoner of Zenda," which will be screened at the Queen's Theatre on Friday, may be had from the statistics of production items.in connection with the photoplay. The figures presented reveal "The Prisoner of Zenda" as one of the greatest undertakings in the history of the photoplay. The total cost of the picture was 1,118,453.16 dollars. Those who contributed to making the picture numbered more than 23,000 persons. The footage of raw film exposed was 257,521. The scenario comprised 1622 p^es. A village and six blocks of city dwellings were built' for exterior scenes. The value of the coronation robes was 105,----000 dollars. During the two. weeks in which the coronation scenes were taken, the village and the blocks of city street housed more than 10,000 persons. The total tonnage of building materials of all sorts used in the construction of the settings was 124,000. A beautiful musical prologue will be played, with special scenic and lighting effects, and with Mr. E. R. F. Hewitt and Madame Mildare Hewitt in the roles of the two leading characters.
