Mr. M. Myers, K.C., and Mrs. Myers returned to Wellington' yesterday after a brief visit to Australia.

Mr. S. W. Tansley, Official Assignee, returned to Wellington from Hawkes Bay last night, and resumed his duties to-day. ' N . '.

■ MrJ S. W. Ramsay, of London, arrived by the Moeraki yesterday, and will be in the Dominion, for several •weeks.

Mr. J. D. Avery, secretary of the Hutt River Board, is at'present confined to his house through illness, and is not expected; to be able to resume bis duties for some weeks.

Sir James Mills, formerly managing director of the Unioji Steam Ship Company, who has been residing for some years past in London, is now in Wellington. He leaves for Dunedin this evening. Sir James will be some months in the Dominion.

Mr. H. H. Ostler, the well-known solicitor, of Auckland, sailed by the Port Darwin to-day for England direct, for the purpose of taking two cases on appeal before the Privy Council. One of these is the Smalifield case. He is accompanied by Mrs. Ostler, and expects to be away, about a year. ' In the intervals of waiting for the cases to come on before the Privy Council, Mr. and Mrs. ,Ostler will visit the Continent. On their return • they will land at Dur-es-Salaam, in the Tanganyika mandated territory, and go by railway to XTjiji pn Lake Tanganyika, and take steamer down the lake to the foot, near where Mr. Ostler has an interest in a cattle ranch with his brother-in-law, who is residing there.
