TRANSPORT WORKERS' PICNIC
The waterside workers, seamen, and drivers are to hold their combined picnic at Maidstone Park, Upper Hutt, on Wednesday next. This will be the second occasion on which these workers have held a combined gathering of this kind. . An interesting , programme;, of sports events for adults and children -has been arranged, and the Railway Department has agreed to run special /trains from Lambton Station, particulars regarding T'hich are advertised in this issue. The Waterside Workers' Band, under Conductor J. J. Drew, will be in attendance. Highland dances and Irish jigs will be included in the programme, an interesting feature of which will be the allocation of eight pyizes for babies. Toy* and sweets for the children will be supplied 'free, and hot water and milk will also be free. Quoit competitions for special prizes will be provided, and there will also be a tug-of-war between teams representative of the seamen, drivers, and wateraiders. Complete arrangements have been made' to ensure the success of the picnic, and, given a fine day, a very enjoyable timel should be spent by all who take part. A special marquee with a woman in attendance will be available for the convenience of women.
