IRISH CATHOLIC PROHIBITION LEAGUE
TO THI EDITOR.
Sir, —Respecting the letter signed by Mr. M'Grath, appearing in your issue of last evening, permit me to point out that that gentleman differs from the members of our organisation inasmuch as we view drink as a scourge, and perform a duty according to our lights in the interest and welfare of humanity, without fear or reward, whereas Mr. M'Grath's position as solicitor for the licensed victuallers obviously renders him open to the suspicion of bias. Under the circumstances, he would surely have been better advised to keep out of the controversy. I may say, however, that as Mr. M'Grath .appears to bo the spokesman . for the Catholic Church, and I have nothing to retract or withdraw respecting the muchdiscussed letter, I challenge Mr. M'Grath, or his Grace Archbishop Redwood, to publish in the " Evening Post " the document, in order that the public on the one hand, and the Catholics on the other, may form their own opinion as to the truth or otherwise of the expressed sentiments.—l am, etc., J. M'LOUGHLAN, Sec, 7th December. '
