KING'S THEATRE.
The programme screened at King's Theatre last evening is one of exceptional merit, and included the irresistible Charlie Chaplin in "The Idle Class." In a dual characterisation as a tramp golfer and as a dude he provides much, scope for laughter. He makes the golf links as hazardous as "no man's land," and the difficulties lie experiences at a fancy dress ball in the evening, especially, when trying to,drink a cocktail whilst clad in armour, adds to the general merriment of the audience. The other star picture, "Island Wives," features Miss Corinne Griffith to advantage. A series of romantic incidents provides a fascinating 6tory. The set tinge are very beautiful, especially those in the South Sea Islands, whilst one of the scenes introduces a tornado of most realistic character. Another interesting item on the programme is "Screen Snapshots,"-taken in a film studio in Los Angeles. In it are seen Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, and Jack Dempsey in a mirth-provoking boxing oontest, from which Charlie Chaplin emerges as champion of the world after defeating Dempsey.' The.orchestra provided special music under the leadership of Mr. iJj. D. Austin. The programme will be repeated this evening.
