LABOUR QUESTIONS
RESOLUTIONS OF FARMERS' UNION,
'At the annual conference of ths New Zealand Farmers' Union to-day, Mr. 2. Clark (Otago) moved: " That this conference enter its emphatic protest against preference to unionists being given, as such preference is a'distinct hindrance to .'progress in all occupations, and that the Government be urged to legislate in that direction."
Mr. C. K. Wilson (Auckland) said the [union would enter one of the biggest struggles ifc- had ever taken on if it proceeded with this proposal. ': The motion was carried by-28 votes ijlo 4. '■"-*
* The-following remits were also adopted:—"That it isnneto c t in the best interests,, of the community that the farming industries should bo hampered and production hindered by the Arbitration, ;Court<awards; and ask that all primary' ■industries be exempted by Parliament Irom such awards."
" That in view of the important bearing on primary producers of awards by .industrial tribunals covering certain industries,, this conference urges that legislation be passed . giving producers the fuller right to be heard in such cases .where their interests are of importance." " That, in the opinion of this conference, it.is" not in the interests of the Dominion that Public servants be affiliated with the Alliance of Labour."
