AMUSEMENT TAX.
, The Prime Minister having decided to exempt from the amusement tax the takings of agricultural shows, Mr. Clutha Mackenzie (Auckland East) wished to know whether he would go further and exempt from taxation competitions such as boxing, football, and cricket. -Mr. Massey replied that any change such as suggested would have to be made by Parliament. What was in his own mind was that anything connected with education, or for educational, purposes, should be exempted from the amusement tax. The other proposals would be taken into consideration before tho legislation came down.
