CANADIAN CATTLE
DEBATE ON THE EMBARGO,
(DNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPIRISHT.) (AUSTRALIAN - NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 27th July. The House of Commons' debated a motion by Viscount Chaplin refusing the removal of the embargo .on Canadian cattle and the Marquis of Lincolnshire's amendment declaring that it is incumbent upon the Government to honour the pledge given to Canada. Viscount Long moved a' further amendment in favour of the admission of store cattle from any Dominion subject to quarantining. Viscount Long said he had every reason to behove that ' Canada would accept this proposal as carrying out the pledge. The Boardt of Agriculture must : determine the period of quarantine. a The Marquis of Lincolnshire's amendment was rejected by 91 votes to 53, and Viscount Long's amendment- accepted without a division. [A few days ago the House of Commons carried, by 247 votes to 171, a motion demanding the removal of the embargo.]
