DR. CAMPBELL'S LECTURE,
The visit of Dr. W. W. Campbell, leader of the Lick Observatory eclipse expedition to Wallal, West Australia, will give Wellington people who are interested in astronomical subjects an opportunity to hear a lecture by one of the foremost astronomers of the world. Dr. Campbell has consented to address a meeting on Monday evening, and as the result of consultation by wireless, has selected as his subject'"The Earth's Place among the Stars." The lecture will be illustrated with lantern slides, and, in addition to the interest due to Dr. Campbell's personal prominence, should be attractive to a variety of tastes.' The lecture will be given in the Dominion Farmers' Institute. No charge will be made. , ■ . '.-■''
Dr. C. E. Adams, Government As-" tronomer, and Mrs. Adams', who are to represent1 New Zealand with the Lick eclipse expedition, will leave Wellington on Tuesday, in company with the leader, Dr. Campbell. Dr.'and Mrs. Adams were yesterday entertairied at.afternoon tea by the members of the asi'tronomical section of the' Philosophical Society and other friends, and a very pleasant afternoon was spent. Professor D. M. V.. Somerville appropriately expressed the good wishes of those present for the success of the expedition, and pleasant and profitable experiences for: , Dr. and Mrs. Adams.
