FALL m PBKSE OF BUTTER.
The following cable has been received from the High Commissioner, London, by the Department of Agriculture, regarding the butter and cheese market as at Bth July: Larger supplies of Danish butter, together with a lesa demand, has resulted in a weaker tendency. Present quotations are: — New Zealand—22os to 226s per-owt (Is Hid to 2s Oid per lb); a fall of 8s to 4s per cwt on the week's quotations according to quality. Note.—Sales of New Zealand better are reportsd at prices below the quotations given. Australian—2lßs to 220s per cwt (Is Hid to Is Hid per lb); a fall of 8s per cwt. ' Irish.—2l4s to 216s per cwt (Is IOJd to Is lid per lb). Danish—22os to 225s per cwt (Is 11-^d to 2s per lb); a fall of 4s to 3s per cwt. French—226s per cwt (2s o|d per lb). Cheese. —The market is weak and irregular. Present quotations are:— English—Finest fanners, 105s to 112s por cwt (11-^d to Is per lb).
