HARRIERS
BROOKLYN. \ The Brooklyn, Harriers Club held, a two miles and a-half handicap for th«~ Lady's Bracelet, from Lyall Bay on Saturday. An excellent trail, laid by D. Todd, R. Poutawera, E. Groll, and F. S. Hill, led from the Surf Club's &hed> along the beach for about 800 yards.'..'.Here it turned into the sandhills for a short distance, and then across' to the golf house. ,The paper then led across the fields to the Lyall Bay Reserve, and down Onepu-road to the Surf Club's shed. There was a goodi muster of supporters, and 28 i-unners-faced' the starter (Mr. D. C. Todd). Various runners held the lead over the first mile and d-half, and then H. Walls (2min 45sec)- went to the front, and, after leading for the rest of the journey, won comfortably by thirty yards from G. Austin (lmm 45sec), with S. Willis (3min sOseo) third, and N. Willis (3min 30sec) fourth. The rest of the runners, finished in a bunch close up. D. Todd (scr), A. Barclay (ssec), and J. M'Kinley (ssec) secured the three fastest times in that order. Next week's run will be held at Karori. WELLINGTON. The Wellington Club held its weekly run on Saturday. A good trail was laid by W. Weston and R. Spence. Starting from the Scatouin terminus, th.« paper led around the ,road to Worser Bay, then over the hill and down on to Miramar flat. There .was a straight run to the golf links, whore the paper led around Scots College, and over the hill again, down on towards Seatoun Park, and'back to the starting point. Two packs were formed, A. Hore being in. I charge of the slow pack, and C. Rowberry, captain, in charge of the fast pack. The race was a most interesting one. The Memorial Shield, which is being presented to the club in memory of dub members who fell in the war, will be competed,for at.Trentham Racecourse on 22nd July, over a course of fiv* .miles.. . . OLYMPIC. The Olympic Harriers held their weekly run a.t Kelburn on Saturday. A good, stiff trail of about nine, miles was laid by K. Beaglehole and A. Wiren; Forty-eeven men attended the run-, which started from the Kelbum tramsheds, up Upland-road, around through the tunnel, and across, cutting through the old golf links across the paddocks to tho cemetery. From here the, trail skirted tile hills through the cemetery to Wilton-road. The return trail _ led down into Northland, cutting into Orangi-Kaupapa-road, across the tramlines to the Botanical Gardens, and along Upland-road home. The runners wore divided into two packs, the, fast pack being under W. Scatchnrd (captain), and the slow pack under :O. Campbell. : SCOTTISH. The Scottish Harriers held their run .from the residence of Mr. T. O'Neill, Aro-street, on Saturday, some twenty runnels participating. A splendid trail was laid by Dawkins and Roberts, tho goneral direction being from Aro-stroet tram terminus into the hills behind Brooklyn, and back by a circuitous route. A run-in was held over the last mile, and, as the going was all down hill, a f ast ■ ran resulted. Tho winner w;is L. G. Ward (scr), with A. J. Greig (200 yards) second, and S. Hall (scr), 3. After tlio nin, the party sat down -to tea, provided by tho host, and hostess, to whom the thanks of the club ate due.' Ne^ Saturday the club championsiiip (five miles) will be contested at Miramar.
