BUSINESS AND ART
Business and art are not enemfeg, but co-partners. In ancient times, Athens, Venice, and Florence became great artoentres only after their peopl* had amassed wealth through trading" Again, business progress means the application of artists' designs and drawings in scores of directions. It is not surprising, therefore, to know that although Wellington is a busy centre of commerce, it is also in the lead in its appreciation of art. For instance, here we have 'the only permanent gallery devoted to the exhibition of New Zealand art—that' conducted by Mr. Murray Fuller, at' 190, Lambton-quay, opposite, the 'Midland Hotel. Many people step aside from .the stream of traffic each day to. see the latest work of the Dominion's- Wading artists. .
