General Semenoff, who secured permission after much pleading to land at Nagasaki to visit the Hot Springs for his health, was met. on the wharf by an agent of a Japanese firm which furnished 5000 pairs of shoes to Semenoff's forces, and was presented with a bill and a demand for prompt payment.
A cable message from Manila reports that the condition of Rear-Admiral Dumaresq is most serious. The physicians state that there is little hope of his recovery.

After an interval of three months the horse-killer is again operating in Adelaide. Another horse was found in the park with its threat cut. The first outrages commenced in 1918, when a number of horses were found in the parks and suburbs killed or maimed. :To date 33 animals have been destroyed.
Jacli Chalmers, of Sydney, has been awarded the Albert Medal for extraordinary gallantry in rescuing Milton Coughlan, after the latal attack oj a shack in the surf at Coogee on 4tli February, states a London message.
The principal award of the Royal Humane Society has been bestowed on James WaUsoii, an engineer at Mount Mulligan, states a message from Melbourne.
