VICE-REGAL.

His Excellency 'the. Governor-General, Viscount Jellicoe, attended the races at Trentham to-day,, and this evening will present the prizes at the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club's smoke concert. Her Excellency was unable to go to Trentham to-day, owing to suffering from a slight cold. On Tuesday evening their Excellencies will entertain the Right Hon. V. S. Sastri, • a jpember of the Council of State for India, at dinner at Government House. On Wednesday they will attend the races at T_^ntham, on Thursday ovening the Racing Club's ball in the Town Hall and on Friday evening the "ladies' night" of the Wellington Savage Club. On Saturday next their Excellencies will again attend the races at Trentham, and in the evening will be present at the Navy League's children's fancy dress ball.

Mr. Stanley Bennet, of Edinburgh, a member of the firm of Messrs. Alder and Mackay, who have a branch office in Wellington, is at present making a tour of the Dominion.

The honour, of Domestic Prelate has been conferred upon Father Golden, who has. been about 53 years in Auckland. His title henceforth will be Monsignor. Father Cahill has also been honoured with the title of Monsignor. Father Brennan has received 'the cross, inscribed "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice." News of these honours was cabled to Auckland by Bishop Geary.
