(BT TiLHORAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
CHRISTCHURCH, 7th July.
The funerals of the three Christchurch men who perished in tho Mangahao disaster, Messrs. Frederick James Birs», William Charles Bires, and Philip Graham, were held to-day. There was a large gathering of friends and workers from Mangahao and Arthur's Pass. The Rev. N. L. D. Webster, speaking at the grave of Mr. Birss and his son, said that they had lost their lives in going to the rescue of comrades in danger; it was part of the sacrifice for the good of mankind that had' to be made. The Rev. W,. P. Hughes, at the grave of Mr. Graham", said that industry claimed its toll of victims, and in his opinion those who went forth on difficult and dangerous -enterprises were every bit as brave as those who. went forth to war.
