(IT TILISRAP*.—FRISI ASSOCIATION.) ■■■ ■■ , DUNEDIN, This Day.,.; The fourth wool sales of the' Dunedin season opened to-day, when 11,476 bales were offered. The auctions opened satisfactorily. Not much was offering suitable for Dominion mills, the bulk of the quittances being taken by Bradford and the Continent. Fine' crossbreds showed ' an increase of' a half-penny, and in some. ;. : instances three farthings, as compared. ■<> with the February sale, and the best halfbred a rise of fully, a penny.. ...... The top price for merinos was.l9d J pieces, $o 16id. It is estimated that the morning sales show an advance of Id to lid'for halfbreds and Id for crossbreds. -
Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., report receipt of a cable from Messrs. iSanderson, Murray, and Elder, Ltd., dated 30th March, reading as follows:—"Home and foreign buyers operating freely. Compared with present London sales' opening rates, greasy merino, best descriptions, advanced 7£ per cent; greasy merino, other descriptions, 'advanced 15 per cent.; merino pieces and bellies advanced 10 per cent.; crossbred, greasy fine, advanced' 10 per cent.; crossbred, greasy medium, market shows no change;.crossbred, greasy coarse, market shows no change compared with last London sales' closing rates; crossbred pieces, scoured, 5 per cent, to 10 per cent, advance. Lambs, all sorts, 5 per cent., to 10 per cent, advance." /. Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., haye received the following cable from their London ' office, dated 30th March:-- ---." Wool sales have closed firm, buyers operating freely. As compared with the opening sales of this series, the closing . sales show merinos and fine crossbreds' have recovered the drop reported, and are now the same as January. Medium crossbreds, which were reported id lower, are now only id lower. Coarse crossbreds are still id lower than Janu-; ary rates.", ••..". The New Zealand Loan and .Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London, house, under date 30th instant:—"Wool sales: The sales closed firmly to-day. As compared with last sales' closing rates, prices are higher by about par to 5 per cent, for greasy and scoured merino super; about 5 per cent, higher for merino lambs, and about par to 5 per cent, lower for medium and coarse crossbred. Other descriptions unchanged. Average current London values of the undernoted descriptions of New Zealand greasy wool «re as follow: —Good merino, 20d per lb; medium merino, 17£ d; inferior merino, 14d; fine crossbred,,, 16d; medium crossbred, B|d; coarse crossbred, 40's, 6^d; coarse crossbred, 36's, sid." The Bank of New Zealand, prexfnee department, has received the 'ollowing advice from its London, office, under date 30th March:—" The sales have closed, with good inquiry from ail branches of the trade. Compared with the close of last sales, prices for practically all descriptions show no quotable change."
