The High Commissioner, • under date London, 30th December, reports as follows:— ■ Hemp.—Manila market quiet, but firm. J grade September-November shipment to November-January shipment, quoted at £38 per ton. New Zealand-dull, and somewhat easier. Sellers quote highpoints, February-April shipment, £37 per ton and fair £35 per ton. Wool.l-Bradford, market firm tone. Fair inquiry, though not great amount of new business. Official quotations are tops delivery to bo in March, 64's (merino): — 56's super, 23rd December, 4s 2d; 30th December, 4s 2d; half-bred, 23rd December, 2s 4d; 30th December, 2» 4d; 40's prepared coarse crossbred, 23rd December, le; 30th December, Is. Apples.—ln fair demand and value easy, with large stocks on hand: — American Jonathans, 14s to 16s; Spitz, 15s to 16s 6d; King David, 14s to 15s; Californian Newtowns, 15s to 16s; Oregon, 13s to 16s (all in 401b boxes); Canadian Baldwins, 38s to 40s; NovaSootian, 26s to 34s per barrel.
